Established in 1956, Good Shepherd Lutheran School educates young children ages 2 through kindergarten in a safe, stimulating Christian environment. The staff of dedicated, experienced teachers and assistants are devoted to providing an enriching educational experience in an atmosphere of Christian love, encouraging the development of a positive self concept and concern for the feelings and needs of others. Chartered by the N.Y.S. Department of Education and licensed by the N.Y.S. Office of Children & Family Services, their low student/teacher ratio ensures that students receive individual attention as well as developmentally appropriate instruction. An interactive program, Together With Toddler, meets twice a week for 1½ hours, providing parents and their little ones the opportunity to enjoy activities and crafts while learning about textures, sounds and seasonal themes. Their Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten programs offer classes for six-hour full days Monday through Friday, or half days with morning or afternoon sessions. These programs are designed to guide 3 and 4-year-old children in their social, intellectual, spiritual, and physical development, offering parents flexibility in their choices. The Full Day Kindergarten program meets New York State requirements, focusing on the development of skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and the arts and sciences. Before and After Care programs are available on a flexible basis, 7am-6pm. “Summer Safari” Full-Day Fun Camp, June 25-August 17 (eight-week program). “Down by the Bay,” Half-Day Fun Camp, July 10-August 16 (four-, five-, or six-week program).
