The North Shore Musikgarten program for children and their caregivers incorporates a rich array of songs, stories, dances and rhythms shared in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Adults and children (aged birth to 5 years) are immersed in joyful activities including singing, moving, dancing and instrument play in a relaxed and unhurried setting. Musikgarten is a long established, internationally respected music curriculum which leads students towards musical proficiency. Classes are separated into baby, toddler and pre-K groups to best meet children’s developmental needs. Baby classes feature songs for bouncing and rocking, and wiggle and peek-a-boo games. For toddlers, there are movement activities for coordination and body awareness, folk songs for singing and dancing, rhythm sticks, jingles, rattles and drums. Pre-K groups offer singing, chanting, moving, musical games, various instruments, creative movement and storytelling. Beginning in April of 2007, Musikgarten will begin presenting classes at the Once Upon a Treetop in Plainview, an unique and enchanting children’s environment offering many creative activities for children.
