Summer is the time to try things that you don’t often get a chance to do during the school year. Whether it’s Italian, Spanish, French, Sign Language or Portuguese, children will enjoy learning a language. Long Island Language Center will also offer a six week “Language Experience” in which children will have the opportunity to speak six different languages and go on field trips. Since children learn best while having fun, Long Island Language Center’s teachers engage children through songs, visuals, food, games, stories, dance and crafts. Field trips will include going to the beach, nature walks, the farm, and restaurants which will “put to life” the vocabulary they are learning. The Center currently offers Spanish, Italian, French and Sign Language for children ages 2-12, Italian for ages 13-16, Adult Spanish and Italian classes, Parent & Me Italian, and Sign Language and Regents preparation workshops in French, Spanish, Italian and English. Long Island Language Center will also offer a unique 2½ hour preschool program in September where children will learn Italian along with getting ready for kindergarten. The curriculum will include reading readiness, letter recognition, Math, Science, Arts & Crafts, and storytime, in addition to educational and entertaining field trips and visits from people in the community.
