Huntington Jewish Center’s Early Childhood Center provides a comprehensive program that integrates all areas of learning. It offers programs that help to develop children’s intellectual, social, emotional and physical aspects. Little ones engage in exploration, creativity and spontaneity and bask in the bounty of love given to them by the HJC staff. Teacher’s at this center are nurturing and dedicated professionals. The curriculum fosters a need for play as a learning tool. Many activities get children involved in the learning process. Children enjoy music and creative movement, arts and crafts, cooking and motor skill-oriented games. Students are given the skills necessary to hone their self-confidence, social skills, and self-esteem so that they leave equipped to take on their next levels of learning. Judaic themes are prevalent in the curriculum, and children celebrate Shabbat and holidays through stories, songs, drama and arts and crafts. There are monthly sing-alongs with a cantor as well. Children are exposed to literacy, language, mathematics, science, music, physical activities and more. Parent and Me classes for children ages 17-24 months are held throughout the week. Optional afterschool enrichment classes for 3 and 4 year olds are also available. To learn more about specific activities and HJC’s philosophy about teaching, call to schedule an appointment.
