CLASP Children’s Center has been providing Great Neck’s working parents and parents enrolled in training programs with quality childcare for 30 years. This childcare program offers year-round care to toddlers, preschoolers and elementary school children before and after school, during vacations and throughout the summer. CLASP’s Summer Program starts when the school year ends and features six weeks of after-camp care with transportation from Great Neck school camps. When the public school camp season ends, CLASP also provides a full-day program with a variety of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, cooking and field trips. The Center supports all aspects of children’s growth and development in a safe, nurturing environment. CLASP involves senior citizens, foster grandparents and high school volunteers in its programs. It tries to build relationships that emphasize the idea of an extended family where children can relate to many generations and experience a unique continuity of care. CLASP believes play is fundamental to the learning process and children learn best when they are involved with materials, each other and their environment. Sensory exploration, discovery and interpersonal relationships are highlighted.
