Welcome to The Language Laboratory
- Where Reading IS Rocket Science! The Language Laboratory
is a multisensory language, reading readiness, and reading
center for children ages 3-10 years old, offering beginning,
enrichment, and remedial reading instruction. Small classes
and individual reading therapy are available in both the Madison
and Randolph locations. The Language Laboratory uses Orton-Gillingham
based phonics techniques and the American Manual Sign Alphabet
to teach letter sounds, encoding (spelling) and decoding (reading).
Handwriting is taught as an aid to literacy instruction. Classes
offered are: Get Ready to Read (reading readiness skills),
Ready to Read (alphabet letters and sounds), I Can Read Words
(beginning reading instruction), I Can Read Big Words (advanced
reading instruction), Fine Motor Madness (writing and pre-writing
skills, fine motor development), (128) and I Can Write Stories
(composition). Classes meet weekly during the school year
and three times per week throughout the summer months. Children
love coming to The Language Laboratory and learning new sign
language and literacy skills through exciting hands-on activities!
The Language Laboratory was created by Reading Specialist
Jenelle Erickson, who has served on the Board of The International
Dyslexia Association of New Jersey. Licensing opportunities
will soon be available. Call (973)377-8313 for a brochure.
