Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, at Boys and Girls Harbor, provides students ages 4-21 years old with a comprehensive education in music, dance and theater in a challenging, caring and encouraging environment that fosters positive self-image, an appreciation of the arts and an understanding of cultural diversity. The Conservatory is acclaimed for its Latin music curriculum, and all three disciplines offered at the school celebrate the cultural contributions of the diverse East Harlem community. At the Conservatory, students gain a greater appreciation and mastery of the performing arts through the 2-week summer intensive day camps, individual and group instruction, special ensembles, public performances, master classes and faculty and guest artist recitals. Conservatory classes combine rigorous training and fun to create an atmosphere where students can meet others with similar interests. The faculty of experienced teaching artists provides students with individualized attention, preparation assistance for auditions to specialized performing arts schools and professional management and direction. Tuition assistance is available for dedicated pre-professional students enrolled in multiple classes. Classes are after school and on Saturdays, and run from September through June, with an additional 7-week summer semester for music.
