Nassau Coliseum Fair, Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, (631)920-2103, www.nassaufair.com. One of the fairs of its kind in the metropolitan area. Features exciting entertainment and attractions, such as the action-packed Circus Hollywood, and more than 100 family-friendly rides and games. Saturday night offers spectacular fireworks shows by Bay Fireworks. Visit 7/3-7/6. Gates open at 5pm on Thursday and Friday, and 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. The fair closes at midnight.

Musical Theatre Experience, Freeport Recreation Center, 130 E. Merrick Road. A workshop for children and teens ages 8-16. It is for students of all levels and performing abilities. Features rehearsals for the ultimate performance of excerpts from Grease; and voice, drama, dance instruction; as well as a creative project. Runs 7/7-8/3.

Sundown Series, Port Washington Parent Resource Center, (516)767-3808. Special events hosted throughout July. Meet local firefighters and police officers and learn about fire safetythe at the Port Washington Police and Fire Department BBQ on 7/8, 6-7:30pm. Dance and sing along at Jeff Sorg and his Songs Say So Much Band with tips for “living green” on 7/15 from 6-7:30pm. Finally, get ready for a Hawaiin Luau and children’s songs with Miss Holli and Tommy on 7/22, 6-7:30pm.

Starlight Storytime, Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center, 45 Manetto Hill Road, Plainview, (516) 822-3535, www.miyjcc.org. Three special evenings of fun for parents and children ages 2-5. Bring your children in their pajamas with a favorite teddy bear for an hour of stories, singing, arts and crafts and a yummy snack. On Wednesdays, 7/9, 7/23 and 8/6 from 7-8pm.

Learn Watercolors, Hicks Nurseries, 100 Jericho Turnpike, Westbury, (516)334-0066, www.hicksnurseries.com. Students can learn landscape or botanical art with artist Harriet Carotenuto. The landscape sessions start 7/12 and meet for five consecutive Saturdays through 8/9, from 9:30am-1 pm. All skill levels welcome. The five-day botanical art program will be held from 7/28 through 8/1. Call for details.

Free Play Session, My Gym Children's Fitness Center, 1320 Stony Brook Road Stony Brook. My Gym Children's Fitness Center hosts a free open house for kids to slide, climb, jump and play with their parents supervision. Gymnastics, sport skills and karate mini lessons, puppet shows and group games are held throughout the day! This full-service medical and pharmaceutical supply company offers a boutique to cater to the needs of mastectomy patients. A staff of experienced women fits women with fashionable bras, swimwear and natural breast forms. Private appointments available.

Breast Cancer Support Groups, Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, most groups held at the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program, School of Social Work, Adelphi University in Garden City, offices: (516)877-4314, hotline: (800)877-8077, www.adelphi.edu/nysbreastcancer. Individual, group and telephone counseling are available, along with a 24/7 hotline staffed by trained volunteers who have had breast cancer. Survivors may attend the following free workshops: Handmade Journals: learn techniques from an art teacher/survivor on how to create a handmade keepsake for preserving memories and increasing personal awareness, on 2/4, 7-8:30pm; Reiki: use gentle touch to move energy through the body and promote balance, relaxation and healing, on 2/27, 7-8:30pm. Workshops are free and pre-registration is required.

Board Certified Lactation Consultant Beverley Rae provides breastfeeding information, networking and support for nursing mothers. Come with the baby and any questions. A unique cancer wellness program for improving the body, mind and spirit of survivors. Geared toward individuals recovering from cancer treatment or actively engaged in a treatment regimen. Mondays from 5-6pm and Fridays from 12:30-1:30pm. Free.
