Golf Anyone?, The Community Children’s Museum, 77 East Blackwell St., Dover, (973)366-9060. Participate in the Third Annual Golf Outing at Picatinny Arsenal Golf Club in Picatinny, which benefits the children of Northern New Jersey. The outing is a fun day of golf, food and great prizes which range from hotel stays to baseball game tickets, to restaurant gift certificates. Prizes will be awarded for golf skill contests like closest to the pin and longest drive. The cost per golfer is $135 and includes a box lunch, buffet dinner, beverages and greens & cart fees. Sponsorships are also available starting at $150 on up to event sponsors. Support the children of our community by giving them a place to be themselves and learn, create and have fun, 7/14, noon.

Guided Tours of the Willows, Historic House Museum at Fosterfields, 73 Kahdena Road, Morristown, (973)631-5344, Tour The Willows, a Gothic Revival-styled house museum that reflects the life and times from 1880-1910. Tours are offered to adults and children ages 8 and up, Wednesday through Friday at 1pm and on Weekends at 1 & 3pm.

Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum, Hopatcong State Park, Route 80, Landing, (973)398-2616. Located in a rustic 19th century building which served as a lock tender’s house on the Morris Canal, the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum offers an entertaining and enlightening look at the history of New Jersey’s largest lake. Permanent exhibitions at the museum include: They Lived Here— The Lenape at Lake Hopatcong, Passage to Progress— The Morris Canal and the Transformation of Lake Hopatcong, Jewel of the Mountains— The Great Hotel Era at Lake Hopatcong and much more! Admission to the museum is free.

Dover History Museum House, 155 W. Blackwell St., Dover, (973)366-0629, The Dover Museum offers a range of photographs from the Civil War to present day, and features events from the town’s 285-year history. The museum is open every Sunday, 1-4pm.

Whippany Railway Museum, Route 10 West and Whippany Road, Whippany, Located on the grounds of an early 1900s railroad yard, the museum was created to preserve New Jersey’s railroad history and share up close and personal experiences with actual locomotives, original memorabilia and archival material. The new 2007 exhibit is Railroad Tugboats, Ferries and the Great Ocean Liners of the 20th Century. Call for more information.

Morristown National Historical Park, 10 Washington Place, Morristown, (973)539-2085, Encompassing nearly 1,700 acres, this historical park commemorates two winter encampments of General George Washington and the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Featured attractions include the Washington Headquarters Unit, Ford Mansion, Jockey Hollow Unit, Fort Nonsense Unit and the Wick House, a furnished 18th-Century farmhouse.
